About This Project

Poon Hill is one of the most famous viewpoints in the world and in Nepal, it is probably the second most famous viewpoints after Kala Pattar. There are many options to extend a trip here, and the only limits to the length of the trek are time and imagination. There are lodges all along the route so there’s little need to carry a huge pack. it is suitable for most people including children. Poon Hill lies in the foothills of the Annapurnas in the Himilayas. Whilst it is below the snowline in Nepal year-round, it is a wonderful hill to walk up for sunrise. Located to the south-west of the Anapurna massif and across a large river valley, it commands spectacular views of all four Anapurnas, Machupuchre, Nilgiri South and Daulagiri. The walk from Ghorepani to the summit is short, but if approaching from the north be prepared for a long, uphill day prior to the sunrise expedition with a 1,500m steep ascent.
